THE ARS “MOTHER AND CHILD” HEALTH AND BIRTHING CENTER
The foundation of the ARS “Mother and Child” Health and Birthing Center was one of the most beautiful projects that was implemented by the ARS. The Center was established in 1997. It is a nonprofit, charity institution and provides free medical services to the population of Akhourian and 6 surrounding villages.Thanks to the ARS care the Center is equipped with modern medical facilities such as Ultra Sound and X-Ray equipment which provide diagnostic services, it also has pediatric, obstetric and gynecological services and first aid cabinets, modern laboratories and a pharmacy.
The ARS “Mother and Child” Health and Birthing Center constantly initiates projects for the betterment of Armenian mother and child care in the disaster area in particular with Akhourian.
On average, every year 5,000 children are kept under observation by the Center’s pediatricians, 1,100 adults are visiting by family doctors, and 1,200 pregnant and 6,000 nonexpecting women are examined by the Center’s gynecologists.
On April 24, 2005 the Center was equipped with an obstetric-
gynecological department. On average, 1,230 births are registered in this section annually.
