OUR CULTURAL VALUES SHOULD BE PRESERVED
Valuing the urgency of preserving cultural heritage, the Armenian Relief Society is providing handicraft courses since 2015 through its Handicraft committee. The aim of the courses is to maintain, develop and disseminate the oldest surviving Armenian handicrafts.
On 15 June, 2017, 54 women, who participated in the courses, received certificates in Marash, Aintap, Sivaz (Van), Urfa, beadswork, carpet weaving, rug weaving and miniature painting.
During the program handmade works of the participants were shown, Armenian handmade clothes were displayed, Armenian songs were sounded, making the event more beautiful and solemn.
THE “BEST STUDENT”
The ARS established the “Best Student” Program in 1995 which continues till today. In the frameworks of the project the best students of the universities in Armenia each get $100 dollars’ award.
THE ARS “NIKOL AGHBALYAN” HIGH SCHOOL
The ARS “Nikol Aghbalyan” high school is active from 1991. It’s a school where advanced students study. It’s the only high school in Akhourian region. Students who have graduated this school study at different Universities in the Republic of Armenia.
YEREMYAN SCHOLARSHIP
The ARS Samvel and Aghavni Yeremyan scholarship program has been held since 1983. The program aims to prepare young specialists, whose professional skills will be useful for colonial needs after graduation. Yeremyan Scholarship is given taking into consideration the educational progress, family and social criteria of the students.
SUPPORT AND ADVICE TO THE GRADUATES OF CHILD CARE ORGANIZATIONS IN THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA
The aim of “State support to the graduates of child custody organizations in the RA” program was to ensure the social protection and integration of 1991-2010 graduates of Armenian orphanages . The goals of the program were to provide 18 years old orphanage teenagers with apartment, ensure their professional orientation, training, and enough income for their basic needs, free healthcare and legal, social and psychological assistance.
THE «SPONSOR-A-STUDENT» PROGRAM FOR PARENTLESS CHILDREN
The “Sponsor-a-student” project is created to ensure the continuity of “Guardianship of orphans and children of fallen freedom fighters” project. The
“Sponsor-a-student” project has been active since 2009.
On the Basis of questionnaires made for the project, 2340 students’ data have been collected and passed to the ARS Central Executive Board.
Between 2009 and 2016, 1191 orphans from Armenia and Artsakh received financial support through the «Sponsor-A-Student» program.
